My school orchestra is playing a couple of movements of this, and I'm so excited to be part of it.

Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is playing this concerto this weekend and I can not wait to hear it. Phillip Glass is even coming to speak at my university this thursday too!

@quackfctry I gree with you, Mr. Haas was also in my coutry (México) and this concert was outstanding.

@Option287 heard this live in 2002 at Prague Spring, best concert experience ever, my chestbone was moving with the rhytm of the tympani - I was sitting in the first row :-) The BEST CONCERT EVER

Superb. I have never before enjoyed Glass's music, but this is fine mature writing and very exciting. Unusual not to see Mr Chimes using Ringer timpani! It would be nice to see a Prisoners of Swing video on YT.

@jacezz123 Really Glass repetitive, shocking:P He sure is, but his best pieces there's always a great sense of progression at the same time.

Very amazinng solo at the beginning!

hehe Marin Alsop hasn't changed one bit
This piece is awesome, and it's amazing how many Glass haters actually watched the entire half hour of the program just to talk about how much his music sucks. I'm confused by it.

The last movement is my favorite. I'd love to hear this live! :) The timpani has a powerful sound. There needs to be more Timpani concertos. The Timpani is the heart of the orchestra and when you make it the star, you get this! Wonderful. This stuff is gold. Those guys look like they're drumming in a rockband.
