Pixel the African Hedgehog

Meet Pixel. This poor guy was originally rescued from a backyard breeder, who mis-sexed him and had no idea what they were doing. He was only 64 grams at eight weeks, was near hibernation and hadn't even lost his early baby quills. Deneen (HedgiePets) hand-fed him for several days, tried fostering him with a nursing mom, gave him Bene-Bac, and nothing could get his weight up. Later he was diagnosed with coccidia and put on antibiotics. Since then, he's gained weight like crazy! He came to me to be fostered while Deneen finds him a home. He's gained weight every single day, started quilling and losing those baby quills, and can now easily eat whole kibble. He's big enough to run on his wheel, and is a sweet, active guy. Today he weighed in at 202 grams. Within a few weeks he should be all caught up with what he would have been had he not have come to us neglected and sick.
