Morshed Mehregan (1/2) - Shah Nameh

The Morshed is a guide and a leader for the "pahlavan" (heroes, braves, knights, athletes) exercising in the pit ; he must be experienced in all the Zurkhaneh exercises, a model for the athletes, he must know poetry (especially Ferdowsi's ShAh NAmeh), he must play the huge clay tombak and sing good.
Zurkhaneh's ethics and tradition take root in pre-islamic military exercises and zoroastrian spirituality.
ShAh NAmeh begins by this powerful verse "Be nAm-e KhodAvand-e djAN o kherad ..." In the name of the God of Being and Intelligence ...
