X-Wing Alliance

Recorded a simple X-Wing Alliance session I had this weekend. This is an old game (from 1999) that I still keep around.

Although I have the "Upgrade" files from the XWAUpgrade project, I didn't install them for this video, because they substantially affect my framerates.

You sounded like it was impressive to take out 1 TIE Bomber. And the text was a little distracting. What skill level were the AI pilots on?

I haven't touched this game in ages, of course it felt impressive! LOL Heck just being able to let it run again was fulfilling in itself. :) I had other things to do in life the past 8 years than blast Imperial fighters :)

X-Wing Alliance. Was, is, and always will be the best space flight simulator of all time.

I can't help but notice that you've got unlimited shields going on there....

Seriously, fighting that many TIEs in an X-Wing should not be an issue even if you didn't have wingmen to thin out the herd, they all follow predictable attack patterns.

..plus throttle was set to 100% the whole time, trim it back to 75% in a dogfight, or assign the 4 basic speed settings to your POV hat and flick between them. 33% is the most maneuverable but you're a sitting duck, still useful though.

This was my favorite game in those days. I really don't have any idea why lucasarts stopped to develop space simulators like this... But I heard rumors that they will release a remake of x wing vs tie fighter maybe in the next year.

The changes are only made to the game files so it's an OS independent fix, to my knowledge.

Already posted on their forums, but couldn't understand which method I should use. Just in case here are my exact specs: I have an ATI 2600HD Pro, 1.80GHz processor and my current display is 1152x864 (32bit), I have direct X 11 and I use windows vista. Since the exact reply to that thread your link sent me to talked about xp, I want to make sure it works for Vista too.
