This is the 5th installment in the 'Falsifying Phylogeny' series. It seemed peripheral to me, but it deals with several questions that keep coming up, and it is a necessary prequel to the 6th and final episode of this series.

A few commenters seem to be getting confused between "theories about evolution" and "the theory of evolution". The clue is the word "the". Ideas about evolution have been around since the greek philosophers, and (incorrect) theories of evolution were proposed before Darwin, but Darwin made the first TOE that *works*. When we refer to "*The* theory of evolution" we mean Darwin's- or rather, the modern synthesis which includes the 150 years of advances made since Darwin's time.
