Shot this vid in November 2011. Just starting to get comfortable wielding a live blade. I did the sayaw using my Prado Ginunting (issued to Philippine Force Recon Marines) and a Charlie Porter aluminum trainer. I wanted to see how well I could move with either weapon.

The live blade is slightly heavier than the trainer. It's also crazy sharp, so definitely not something you'd wanna swing around without a decent amount of training. It's designed to be able to chop through vines and tree branches, so it'll have no problem chopping off arms and legs.

  • Don't sell yourself short...I know Pekiti guys that have been training for years and still don't have your flow...Healthy Respect for a live blade shows intelligence, Keep up the good work!

  • @cbroadarrow Oh hey, thanks so much. I'm humbled by your comments, and encouraged. I like to practice sayaw once a while, instead of "just" the drills by themselves. Gotta put it all together at some point, right? I guess I'll keep doing vids to chronicle my progress. ^_^

  • Nice Flow Bro. Looking good!

  • @g1tac Thank you sifu Chis!

  • Thanks man. This is like 8 months after my "solo stick flow in the park" vid. I'm definitely a bit more comfortable with the aluminum trainer now. I'm still a little scared of the live blade though, hahaha. But, my instructors tell me I need to start making friends with the live blade 'cause it'll help develop the overall striking and body mechanics. Yup, more training. ^_^
