Pulfrich 3D with Glass & Mirrors

Wear a sunglass shade over your left eye only and keep both eyes open. The image will appear in 3D because it is in continuous horizontal motion, and somehow that makes it work. This has been called the Pulfrich Effect or Pulfrich Illusion, etc.

Carl Pulfrich, the man who discovered this phenomena, had only one eye - which means he couldn't see it himself!

This is just a test Pulfrich 3D video with CG glass and mirrors set in almost seamless ( lol ) real world surroundings. I was concerned that the reflections would mess up the 3d because they are going the wrong way, but it worked out that they appear to have depth just like real world reflections, while the continuity of the geometry of the boxes was enough to make them appear at the correct depth.

This video was rendered at 1280 x 720. It is 24 frames per second. It repeats a cycle of 720 frames three times around.

Background panorama created from about 30 pictures using Hugin Panorama Creator. (The obvious seams are due to my negligence, not a program limitation. It is my first time using it. I am very impressed with the program stability!)
Intro screen and conversion of background panorama done with Gimp.
Font made with Fontforge.
All work (except for previous font design) done on Linux Mint 10.
