Shattered Dreams - Creekview 2004

An Anti-DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) project I helped direct and edit in association with the Carrollton Police Department and starring students from my High School (most of them did not study acting).

And now some explaination: The crash scene is filmed in daylight and has some students in the background because the student body is watching it live to maximize impact. From the crash on was shot in one take, and mostly like a documentary. We had five cameras rolling on the crash and edited it over night.

Many thanks to my co-directors Daniel Greenwood and Ricky Gove who did a lot of the post-crash editing.

Also, the version you see here I cut down from the original 40 minute version for portfolio purposes. This is why the music skips in some places.

Thanks for your compliments! We had the assistance of some professional make-up artists, and the police department, and RL Turner's Camera Equipment, but the talent came from Creekview.

It was a lot of after-school planning sessions about script, locations, and manpower.

It wasn't for any class in particular, just an extra-curricular activity.

we basically did the whole thing with sony handicams on digital 8. we used a shotgun mic for a few scenes and just a regular run of the mill microphone for a lot of others. we had a lot of practice from 3 years of realizing that indoor and outdoor scenes are full of noise from air conditioners (since it is texas),
