The idea was great. Take the blaxploitation genre and set it in the whitest place on Earth: Alaska! Get Gladys Knight, one of the hottest superstars of the day, to play the lead. Then call up Bob Mackie and have him design all the furs and ski gear. With that concept in place, why bother with things like acting coaches, dialogue, film editing and continuity? Just film it and see what happens. PIPE DREAMS is a vanity project that gets so out of hand that even doing the nasty in the Alaskan Pipeline can't help it. You will laugh, you will cry and you will never be the same again. Gladys Knight set out to make herself a movie and all she did was get to see Russia from her house!
