This is a review of arcade coin-operated games year-by-year: "Lunar Lander" was released by Atari in 1979. The video game review footage was emulated on MAME.

This is an alternative site for video game reviews on YouTube other than Classic Game Room - Incomcompany (CGR), The Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN) who is also know as James the Nintendo Nerd (JNN) or Irate Gamer. There is no cussing here or 8th grade humor. BiffsGamingVideos brings you expert reviews and high quality videos.

  • This is a re-post. Vector graphics games always look dark unless I do something special to boost up the brightness on the graphics and not the background.

  • Have you ever pulled the MCdonalds landing?

I tryed it on mame with cheats and all and still, it never happened :) ! This game is AWESOME! The "zoom in" feature was way ahead of it`s time and vector graphics just look amazing with this sort of gameplay! Someone should make a vector game just for nostalgia reasons!

    Thanks for posting!

    Cheers!

  • @shock25sr Nope.

  • What's your favorite MONOCHROME vector graphics game? Asteroids? Battlezone? Red Baron? Lunar Lander?????

  • yeah this game pissed me off; how the hell were you ever supposed to land more than twice with no fuel replenishment.... way to go atari

  • Can't believe how many quarters I wasted

  • I used to play this game a lot when I was a kid! Good simple times!

  • I don't want to sound like spam, but you can play this on Facebook.

  • Check out a game called 1985 for the Commodore 64...same game but with different planet levels and a bit better graphics

  • @BiffsGamingVideos Red Baron. Partly because of the game itself but also because of the sit-down version of the cabinet. You sat in an enclosed cabinet with a big screen and a control-stick between your legs. Quite unusual at the time.

I also loved Lunar Lander, but it was hard to find and harder to beat.

  • I found the best tactic was to use ABORT!

You send your ship towards one of the 5X pads - complete free-fall

Then as you go over, you hit ABORT - the ship automatically rights itself and descends vertically to the target (after being pushed up a bit). If you've done it right, you'll need very minimal adjustment (and fuel) to do the landing.

  • Wow, for those types of physics in 1979, that's really innovative.

  • For anybody who finds this interesting and owns a PS3, I suggest you check out Gravity Crash. It's the classic "Wire frame ship has to fight gravity and physics while running out of fuel" style of game, but it's got enemies, [pretty decent] techno music, and vibrant colors as well.

  • Ugh this game would drive me nuts.
