Union Pacific Railroad Little Rock & Reisor Subdivisions
Texas & Pacific Railway Depot
Marshall, TX
It was a great day of railroad action at the T&P depot in Marshall, with almost nonstop train action in about a two-and-a-half hour period from 2 PM to 4:30 PM, making for a total of seven trains. The historic Marshall T&P Depot & Museum is a must visit for any train-buff this side of I-35 in Texas, situated in a prime location where Union Pacific's Reisor Subdivision splits off to the east (to Shreveport, LA) from the Little Rock Sub (which comes out of Longview from the west and continues north to Little Rock, AR). As this video shows, UP typically does a good job of keeping the rails here hot with plenty of eastbounds and northbounds, and the occasional westbound coming off of the Reisor Sub. In this video, we see several northbound trains round the bend by the depot to head north on the Little Rock Sub, as well as two trains transferring between the Little Rock and Reisor Subs. We also get a great view of crew members throwing the switch for the two transfer movements between the Little Rock and Reisor Subs. It just goes to show you never know what you'll see when you visit Marshall. Grab the popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show!

@WestOkieRailroadVids Those tracks served a now abandoned grain elevator (which is visible on the other side of the Bolivar St Bridge). Back in the T&P days, there were huge shops here in Marshall, it was the T&P's headquarters, including a roundhouse and locomotive shops, and there was a hotel and tourist shops for travelers. Virtually all of the complex was destroyed in a major fire in the early 1970s. The 1912 depot is the only surviving structure today.
