From Atlanta, the 1996 Olympic Road Race. The first time professionals fully entered the Olympics in cycling. Sorry about the picture quality, it's from several dubs, and a PAL-NTSC conversion. A young Lance Armstrong dearly wanted to win this race, and attacked towards the end, but it was short lived. Commentary by David Duffield.

  • I always found it strange that not everybody was wearing a helmet in this race. I thought they were Mandatory in N. America by this point.

  • Thank you very, very much for posting this! I have been looking for footage of this race for awhile now!

  • I remember being there and seeing Armstrong frustrated because the chase group wasn't working hard enough to chase down his teammate Frankie Andreu.
