  • Nice, and you used the 24-105L? Do you think that it's also possible to use the 70-200 2,8L IS? I have those 2 lenses but not the Merlin with my Mk.II (maybe one day)

  • Probably, but you would have to rejig the merlin everytime you switched lenses. That would be a real PITA!

  • wow, that was really beautiful. the subject, the music the camera moves. beautiful.

I'm getting my 5d next week. Woud you recommend the merlin?

  • Merlin is great....but it takes a lot of practice. Its nice and light which is good, because your dont really need the harness for a long shoot. but because it is light it tends to blow around in the wind a lot

  • It does have the IS engaged on the lens. The merlin is a b**ch to setup, but it comes with a great video to watch. It is like balancing an egg on a spoon, and once you get the hang of trimming etc, it is pretty straight forward. NOT good in the wind AT ALL.

  • Very pleasant video, I've been taking similar shots of my kids running with our dogs using the Cam Caddie scorpion and I'm soo happy with how the videos have turned out.

  • Hi,

I'm having a little trouble setting the steadicam Merlin with my Canon 5D . I would like to know which lens were you using when you made the video? Thanks!

  • @ExFisk It is very hard to balance it with 70-200mm. The reason is that it is a tele lens. Even if you balance it on the steadicam it is not possible to adjust the focus while shooting because it will jitter the footage. Speaking from experience it is ideal to use wide angle lenses when using the steadicam and have your focus set to infinity. Some good lens to use are zeiss or canon 28mm, 35mm and etc. Hope that helped with your question.

  • good night ... you can tell me how you used counterweights up or down? in which position the plate is l camera? H? thank you very much

  • beautiful!! I want merlin!

  • @banjoman1234 In which case, you'll want to PIDOOMA that PITA! ;)

Nice work, BTW. I suppose the distinct advantage of using the wide angle is the improved depth of field, which requires less focusing.

  • @KWIMAGE Shoot at f/8 or f/11 and you won't have to worry about focusing since you'll have unlimited DOF anyway.

  • How did you do the focusing during using steadicam merlin?

    I find it very difficult...

    very nice video anyway

  • How did you do the focusing during using steadicam with 5D2?

I find it very difficult with focusing when using steadicam merlin
