Like the late Monika Danneman, Burdon likes to portray himself as Jimi's biggest fan. But like her, he was in on the murder of Hendrix. He gave a false alibi for Danneman's testimony because his money (unlike Chas Chandler who sold out his share) was still tied up with former Animals & Hendrix manager Mike Jeffrey's financial schemes that were forcing Jimi to seek new management. Unless they could collect on the insurance policy Jeffrey took out on Hendrix, Burdon would have gone broke.
