Los países en vías de desarrollo
El nivel de vida de los países no industrializados no puede compararse con el de los Estados Unidos. Pero tampoco quiere decir que todos esos pueblos viven en la miseria. Es importante reconocer que aun entre los países generalmente llamados "países en vías de desarrollo", y particularmente entre los que forman la América Latina, existen diferentes niveles de desarrollo. Hay países cuya economía se basa principalmente en la agricultura, pero también hay otros bastante industrializados, como demuestran las siguientes noticias.
The developing countries
The standard of living of non industrialized countries can not be compared with that of the United States. But it does not mean that all these people live in poverty. It is important to recognize that even among countries generally called "developing countries", and particularly among those who form Latin America, there are different levels of development. There are countries whose economy is based primarily on agriculture, but there are also others fairly industrialized, as evidenced by the following news.

Pero el éxito del metro mexicano, inaugurado en mil novecientos sesenta y ocho para los Juegos Olímpicos, ayudó a convencer a otras naciones con problemas de tráfico de la ventaja de construir sus propios sistemas subterráneos.

The subway in Mexico City, which is the busiest in the continent, transported more than one billion passengers last year. For over fifty years, Buenos Aires was the only subway system in Latin America. But the success of Mexican metro, opened in 1968 for the Olympic Games, helped convince other nations with traffic problems the advantage of constructing their own underground systems.
DESARROLLO DEL VALLE DEL CAUCA
La Corporación del Valle del Cauca (CVC), una de las entidades de desarrollo regional de más éxito de la América Latina, celebra su trigésimo aniversario en mil novecientos ochenta y cuatro. La organización fue fundada en mil novecientos cincuenta y cuatro siguiendo el modelo del Tennessee Valley Authority. Es una entidad pública y autónoma que ha desarrollado el valle más rico de Colombia mediante el control de inundaciones y el suministro de energía hidroeléctrica.
Cauca Valley Development
The Cauca Valley Corporation (CVC), one of the most successful regional development agencies in Latin America, celebrates its thirtieth anniversary in 1984. The organization was founded in 1954 modeled after the Tennessee Valley Authority. It is an autonomous public entity that has developed the richest valley in Colombia through flood control and the supply of hydroelectric power.
