This mago was made in 2004 by Ambrose Cameron, a Rembarrnga man who emerged as a leading Arnhem Land mago craftsman at the turn of the millenium. Sadly, Ambrose passed away in 2005 before the world could fully appreciate the talents of this man. His story was only starting to gain legend status before his untimely early demise.

This mago plays in the key of G#. It has been used in Arnhem Land by countrymen and shows general use wear including handling patination to the ochres, minor hairlines throughout, and chipping to the bell end. Air leakage at the mouthpiece was fixed by Darryl Digarrnga applying black duct tape over the leaks before this recording was made.

As you can hear, this mago is no slouch. It is loud and powerful with plenty of grunt. There is good acoustic compression and high back pressure making this a very easy mago to play.

This mago has just been released of its duty as an iDIDJ Reference Collection instrument, and can now be found in the iDIDJ Store:
