It's been many weeks later and I am happy to announce that I am done (for now) with all the modifications, it is completely optimized for the space and lighting. Lettuce and arugula are growing like crazy. Spinach won't sprout at all ( I know why now) and the tomatoes are looking great.

Next Video you might see the following;
We will paint the tubes green (like the greenery) , the light fixtures yellow (like the sun) and the structure blue (like the sky). Also I will try to mod the light fixture to take compact fluorescent lights instead of 48" tube fluorescents. This will allow me to grow tomatoes, peppers, cukes, etc indoors better than an aerogrow. Stay tuned!

  • wouldn't a continuous s shape be better than the 90 and the T? l mean you cant really controll how much water goes into each of the secondary pipes can you?

  • @Firststopautoglass If everything is kept level, roughly the same amount of water will go into each pipe. Plus an "S" shape would make it so that I would have to have a drain tube going back into the nutrient tank. Maybe a "M" shape would work but I'm limited on space and light.

  • how about putting it up somewhere where there is natural light???

  • You can do that. I want them inside the house so I can control the amount of light and prevent bugs from getting to them.

  • The roots go through the net cups and extend into the 4" pvc pipes. This system is perfect for short term crops such as leafy greens and such. I would imagine it very difficult to remove a full grown tomato or pepper plant from this kind of setup.

  • great set up......u should grow weed instead....drug...free

  • they are 2" net cups.

  • what size of net pots are you useing

  • seems like the pots are too small, or do the roots just expand into the pipes.
