I don't know if your comment is stupid. It's just unreadable and incomprehensible.

i think the gouverment should spend 25% of their budjet on space programs, instead of war in iraq. i know that we have lots of problems on earth(poverty, desease, ect) but space exploration is the key to fixing all those problems

What? Of course it is possible to go to Mars. What would make you think it is impossible?

I'll tell you why. Short sighted politicians. Much like Obama...the losers in this country think the space program is a waste. They want the money for themselves to waste. I'm sorry, if your financially stupid and/or homeless its your own damn fault.

Richard Nixon thought Apollo was 'too expensive' and endorsed the Space Shuttle while reducing NASA's budget. It was believed that reusability would drastically reduce the cost of space access and allow a much higher flight rate. Ironically, the Space Shuttle was a complex machine that needed extensive repairs and tests between flights; becoming more expensive than originally thought.

Because as a nation we apparently feel that if we are not 'showing up the communists' there is no reason to achieve in space. There is also the assinine view that we must solve every earthly problem, like 'world hunger' and 'poverty' before spending money toward scientific achievements like space travel - as if scientific endeavors are some kind of luxury we can ill afford.

We should have one of those check boxes on our tax returns to allocate a dollar to the space program...

NASA's budget was reduced drastically (from approximately 4% of the federal budget to less than 1%), making it impossible to continue lunar missions or other exploration targets.
