  • @Jeri321 the west has not been experiencing true economic growth for decades now... so clearly the commonly held lie that "we need immigration" because our workforce is too indolent, unskilled and small to take care of our of service economy.. Who in the world would entertain the notion that seasonal mexican fruit pickers immigrating to canada are an "essential component" to our economical growth. Either way ANY SYSTEM, which needs an ever growing number of people to work is fundamentally flawed

  • Throughout entire history rich countries have been taking immigrants as cheap workforce to help their economy. While I understand the problems immigration can create, I fail to see how the West is going to continue economic growth without immigration. I'm not saying we should embrace it, but maybe we should have another look at out competitive economic system, which is the true cause of the problem.

  • @verumdolor so the assault on Toronto's economy could scarcely be more dramatic: first the initial cost of pampering minorities to ensure that they gain preferencial and priority treatment in hiring and admissions to schools, secondly the cost of regimenting business AND the local populace to acquiesce in its own dispossession (through PSA's, anti racism initiatives, gvt programs etc), to cap it all off, the majority of immigrants consume more medical care alone than they contribute too... so..

  • @verumdolor (continued)... furthermore, Toronto takes in 60 000 new immigrants each year: the majority of these are from the third world, with typical integration problems (that you must be aware of) and that McLean's has found year after year: consume MORE SOCIAL BENEFITS than they contribute to

apparently about 80% of immigrants are from the third world, of those: 18% are illiterate, 41% lack proficiency in employable language skills, and 75% have an income inferior to 28K: ie low tax bracket

  • @verumdolor interesting, interesting and shocking... you're telling me that "the multicultural nature" of toronto's economy (whatever that means)- can't be blamed for any ill effects... First of all civil lawsuits and programs designed to boost minority employment and dictate business terms for companies cost over a billion dollars a year (gvt programs, PSA's, posters and affirmative action) end up costing ridiculous amounts, and this runs the cost of doing business sky high. (continued)

  • @lictor313 The state of Toronto’s economy has little to do with its multicultural nature. Like many major cities, Toronto has a strong economy with a large debt.

Toronto generates HUGE amounts of tax revenue for the federal and provincial governments; but that money does not come back to Toronto via transfer payments. If Toronto could keep more of its own tax revenue, it would have more than enough money to pay its debts and municipal services.

  • @verumdolor YOU DON'T GET THE POINT? The point is that you here ranting with hypocritical jabbering... that canada's this big kumbaya guitar ring, where everybody just rejoices in cultural togetherness, while in reality, people divide themselves EXACTLY ALONG RACIAL & CULTURAL LINES: and mix, mingle as little as possible. They don't live in the same neighbourhoods, they don't want to attend the same schools, they don't seek out any other cultures. and tension is the prevailing mood.

  • @verumdolor yes... compared to Detroit and Los Angeles and Brasilia... excellent standard to compare yourself... And don't you find it the least bit odd that year in year out 70+% of the gun violence (nevermind violent crimes alltogether) are caused by a 8.4% racial minority... no question marks there eh... everything's normal there... and in the summer of 2006 gun violence was precisely described as an "epidemic" ... 20 in some week ends... Toronto crime is among the highest in the country btw
