What are you saying? I don't think mainstream is bad at all. I listen to mainstream music all the time...even mainstream radio pop. If I enjoy it I listen to it. There are different degrees of popularity. There's the crap produced for money-making, which is meant to appeal the mindless. There are the obscure bands, which explore noises or repetition in an ATTEMPT to make music.

Then there's the innovative music created by talented artists. If the latter becomes famous, it's because it's worth it. Arcade Fire has sparked in me emotions I didn't know I had. If this isn't good music I don't know what is.
