  • I moved to Short Hills in 1994. Then, the huge structure and parking lot where Saks Fifth Avenue was, was empty. Today, 14 years later, nothing has changed. Why do we need to pull buildings down and erect ugly multi storey structures? Cant the existing ex Saks Fifth space be used/sold for usable space?

  • Good job, folks of Milburn. Keep this lovely town as is. Do not turn this into a typical US city. Milburn is what it is now as a result of of its charm and easy going atmosphere.

  • HOW DARE THEY TEAR DOWN SUCH A "HISTORICAL" BUILDING!! SUCH AN OLD LANDMARK PLACE?:???????????? SCREW THE MORONS WHO OK THIS HORRENDOUS MOVE! MORE RUINATION OF OUR HOME TOWN-ABSOLUTE IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!q

  • that was ok

  • dude the mayor is just stupid relly tho ima move to maplewood or something

  • ya dude thats like stupid now there r gonna be ppl living rite next to the high school

  • Can anyone fill me in on the Chanticler being torn down for condos? When is that supposed to happen and what about the affairs that are booked there????

  • "Tax reasonable?" Millburn is just as taxed if not more so as other communities in Essex Cty. It is driving people away from the town and affecting our property values already. I am suspicious of HIDDEN COSTS to the residents (additional students in the apts? other items if businesses fail? relocation of town dump?) of this plan.

  • What a great campaign Mike. It makes perfect sense in today's economy to wait until the time is right to build. I say keep Millburn historical and charming the way it is.

  • The Saks Fifth Avenue store is currently owned by Springfield, NJ and has been put on the board for redevelopment for some time. However, street access to the building is on the Millburn side of the street and thus, Millburn has some problems with what business goes into that building. It's not that there was a lack of effort, there are just some other issues affecting the redevelopment.

  • Thankyou for bringing this to the attention of the community. It sounds like a bad idea.

  • Millburn, like all similar NJ suburban Downtowns need to redevelop it's downtown in order to remain afforable into the future. The train station is an asset that needs to be developed in a way which minimizes the use of the automobile and encourages the use of mass transit. There should be a large paking garage wrapped with housing and retail on the ground floor. Downtown development in towns with a train line will relieve the pressure to sprawl into the outer ring suburbs. NIMBY is selfish!
