Alex Gavan's Gasherbrum 1 (8068m-Karakoram) summit movie

On July 30th 2007, Romanian climber and photographer Alex Gavan summited Gasherbrum 1 -8068m (Hidden Peak) in the Karakoram, using no supplementary oxigen and no sherpa support, thus making the Romanian first ascent of the mountain and also the first alpine slyle ascent of a summit over 8000m altitude by a Romanian climber. more on www.cloudclimbing.ro

Isn't Alpine style , fast and light , an insane undertaking ? therefore suicidal ? yes its been done successfully by many , what if a disaster strike , a fall, a broken leg or a sudden storm , what then ? we all know what miracles an extra bottle of oxygen can do . what do you think ? BTW I am a Lazy Boy climber .

just when you reach the top after busting your chops for weeks on end... you see the pyramid of K2 in the distance rising above you in the distance. doh!

jokes aside, stupendous achievement. i dream of climbing 8000ers, hell, even denali. this video is the stuff of dreams.
