NOTE! THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO BE WATCHED BY THE PEOPLE FEATURED IN IT! IT MAY NOT MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE ELSE. MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE CRAPPY CAMERA ANGLE.

That said, if you do want an explanation for this madness: Anime Name That Tune - Deluxe Advanced Monster Edition! (or DAME! for short) is a variation on Anime Name That Tune created for Otafest. Essentially, it stemmed from a simple idea: to play ANTT with more challenging songs.

However, very few anime fans are walking anime music encyclopedias, especially when it comes to old and obscure stuff. Thus, a straight-up game of Advanced ANTT would probably end up being pretty boring. Many of the songs would likely be met by blank stares, and the answers that do come up would likely come from the same three or four people more often than not. What to do to make a more entertaining game for both audience and players?

To fix this problem, a new aspect has been added to the game: BS points. Essentially, if none of the players know the answer to a song, they can earn BS points instead of regular points. The host will ask the players to give short descriptions of what kind of anime they THINK the song clip is from. Whoever gives the best description wins a BS point, and whoever has the most BS points by the end of the game wins a special BS certificate separate from the "winning for real" prize.

This rule makes ANTT DAME! into a more casual, humour-based game than regular ANTT, despite the "advanced" level of songs played. Thus, everyone still has fun despite the high level of nerd going on.

I say all this because my introduction to the game got cut out of the first video recording, and because I have to apologize for the state of these recordings anyway. I did not have a cameraperson for either DAME! game, and so I had to make do with a static camera. This unfortunately makes things confusing for those who were not present, especially for scoring.

I apologize, but it would take way too long for me to caption everything that doesn't make sense or can't be heard very well, so I can't fix this. Hopefully you find this video funny anyway.

- Eryn

(NOTE: During the Saturday DAME! game, humour was initially prioritized over accuracy in the BS descriptions. However, it was eventually decided by Sunday that it was easier to favour accuracy instead, with humour being a tiebreaker (except in situations where humour clearly won the day).
