I wondered how some remote place could switch on my off peak apartment heater and some pal said a relay that is sent via the phone company lines, to the building where all the heaters are switched on, as the head power company determines the weather is colder or warmer, etc.

I still can't believe that the switch is done over the phone company, maybe it is, maybe that is why everyones telephone number has so many digits in it
