@americanteen97 The books really expound upon that. Knives is much more sympathetic. It's actually more blunt to the reader that Scott and Ramona are damaged. Ramona trying to escape her past, Scott trying to find his future. She picks the a-holes and he is an a-hole. But only indirectly, due to his obliviousness, lack of social skills and empathy. My heart broke with Knives' during the break-up scene.

Everyone else seems to be Scott and Ramona, but I felt really sad for Knives when Scott left her behind.
