HELL by A. Nevzorov (part 1 w/English subtitles)

This report by Alexander Nevzorov shows the true situation during the assault on Grozny city in January 1995.
As the other units were completely destroyed or failed to advance and were forced to retreat from the city, general Rokhlin's army group North became the only force fighting in the city against the enemy about ten times superior in numbers. General Rokhlin was later awarded Hero of Russia for taking the city but refused to accept an award for fighting on Russian land.

This shows what Russian soldiers are capable of with competent officers, who share the hardships with his troops and never asks his soldiers to do something he wouldnt do himself. As an American vet who has been in combat, I can say that soldiers will run through a brick wall for officers who inspire, just so they wont let them down. Its as true for the Russian soldiers as it is for American soldiers.
