Something completely different again. This time we play a game released in 1999. It's flawed in many ways but the general idea of the game is great. I wish someone would make a remake of this game, and no I don't count Gangsters 2 as a remake. That game is totally different.
@davehowlett91 try taking them out earlier on, starting with the rival closest to your territory. works for me all the times but game becomes somewhat less fun and more action based.

@Artaud1957 if you are playing a normal game then try playing at passive difficulty. When i play i make a group of stealth hoods and send them during each turn to explore, eventually they will find a rivals office and when they do i make another group of firearms hoods and send them with some of the best guns to kill the gang leader located at that office. The game can overpower players easily so just take them out earlier. If you want a more peaceful game then try the short game.

@davehowlett91 post* not email.
The most important thing to learn to do is how to successfully expand your territory early and keep collecting money from it. For a long time this will be your only source of income. Concentrate on money first, weapons are not needed. Give cars to your recruiters and make sure you get a good accountant and lawyer early. Never stop recruiting hoods, you need them for collection, no matter how rubbish they may be.

@Artaud1957 It appears I can't email you the links to some things I read before when I learnt to play so instead I will tell you how to google them. Googling for the gangsters organised crime forum on neoseeker forums. On the first page is a post "HOW THE HELL DO YOU WIN!!?!?!!!?" This contains links to two extremely useful websites. One is a guys play through of the easiest scenario, the one you will first learn to win. Good luck, it feels great to beat the game finally!

@davehowlett91 Staying peaceful is a real problem, because the opposing gangs move aggressively into my territory, even when I've set them as passive in the starting conditions. I've been using the "hanson" money cheat, but even then, in my current game, I'm struggling to control my territory and have no manpower to expand. I wish there could be fewer AI opponents. I love the game, but have very little success playing it.

@eileenBrain Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've studied the official strategy guide. I bought it way back when the game initially came out. It seems that the opposing gangs just grow at an exponential rate, and they don't care about expanding into my territory. After 5-6 weeks it seems that I'm hopelessly weak compared to them. I've often wondered if the AI has an unfair advantage. Even with the "hanson" money cheat, I'm hard-pressed to just defend my own 15-20 blocks. Oh well.

@eileenBrain I did a lot of research to learn to play this game and I consider my self to be very good at it and even then still cannot beat over half the scenarios.

@Artaud1957 You also want to get moonshine going as early as possible.

@Artaud1957 Takes a lot of practice and strategy. You need to stay peaceful for a very long time to have any chance. You need to have a recruiting group of high intel, two groups of extortionists with high intel and fists, several groups of collectors who are your useless gangsters. You will generally recruit all gansters you come across as they are all useful. Later you will have to have defence groups for your businesses and an assault group for blowing up the enemy businesses.

@Jwl122 Can you give us more info on what you were setting up and where? I've never had the feds take down my business.
