Mill St. in Rockingham, NC was once the heart of a thriving textile industry. With all of the mills now closed, all that remains are empty buildings and fading memories. This photoessay was produced by Jay Jennings as part of the WRAL-TV documentary "The Other North Carolina". For more info go to www.wral.com/news/local/documentaries.
Your video is so well done. I visited the ruins just before they tore the tower down.
It's nice that you documented it in this way. There are still mill ruins in other parts of town that should be left alone for historic reasons. Jeff

Politicians and greedy Americans have sold our labor force out to the cheapest bidder. Now we are paying a high price for their greed.

The textile industry has been portrayed as undesirable by the media and many
politicians. Our family once earned a nice living from the mills. Unfortuately, our laws, regulations, and welfare state have destroyed a great industry.
Thanks for this great video and bringing attention to the harsh reality of "free" trade.
