When I was a french girl studying in Japan, I was once invited to eat in a japanese family. So I entered and saw the piano at the other side of the room but said nothing. At the end of the meal I was told to make herself at home, so I went to the piano and played this music because it reminds me of my home. A japanese woman sit on the sofa, listened eyes closed and cried, saying "I don't knwow this music but I feel your sorrow". I didn't feel sad actually, but I knew what she meant.

My favourite thing about this piece is its sheer simplicity :) Someone can play it after an hour of learning piano
