To my knowledge, this is the only drop ever performed by a freefall lifeboat from an oil platform.
If I'm wrong, let me know :P

The drop was performed at Heidrun Oilfield off the coast of Norway, sept 2008.

The lifeboat is not supposed to bounce like that, but rather dive under the water and surface further away in order to clear platform, even without engine power.
Only 3 people were on board, the boat is designed to carry 100 so passengers, thus the bounce :)

  • THAT IS SO COOL

  • the oil rig had a turd

  • It's okay, it's not to bad, depending on your position in the boat. Join the offshore and pump a little bit adrenaline everyday. Good hands and common sense are always welcome.

  • I've seen the training sites for this - crazy:D
