It looks as if my suspicions are correct. Iraq, like Lebanon, Iran, and Afghanistan was once a beautiful country. Iraq before the despotic rule of Saddam Hussein seems to have been a nice country, too. But years of despotic rule, religious extremism, foreign interference and meddling, and war have destroyed all these countries. It is so tragic.
