Douglas Marshall plays the Andantino Serioso at Organpower! 2004 A Millenial Clash of Musical Titans, at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall. This piece is played on the Rodgers Trillium 3-manual organ which we installed for this event. Dougs interpretation of this piece is patterned after that of Virgil Fox with whom he was privileged to study it.

A search on organpower 2004 will find all eleven parts of this concert. Some are played on the Methuen Halls renowned E.F Walcker pipe organ (1863), some on the Rodgers organ, and some on both organs. It was a blast in just about every sense!

Doug and David Ogletree, his business partner, enjoy playing concerts but in our other life we represent Rodgers and Fratelli Ruffatti in the New England area of the USA and are also the inventors of the critically acclaimed Marshall & Ogletree Epiphany organ. Please stop by and visit us at http://www.organpower.com.

  • Great sound but still a pipe organ will sound always better thats because you cant expect speakers to drive so many different frequencies at one time. But of course maintainence is much less and it takes less space and probably the cost of an equivalent pipe organ would be much more. especially if you have a 32 ' rank and in very rare cases a 64'. And then you can hve a combination or orchestral stops too.

What do the Opus series cost ?.especially if the 'budget' model was under 200,000 $ US?

  • @edolch oh poor widdle biddy baby Edloch..Did I hit a raw nerve? GOOD!!! Now shut the fuck up, grow up and a get a flippin' life, a-hole...blah blah blah..that's all you pipe snobs do..on and on and on!! Now..leave me alone..I"v e got some awesome RODGERS ORGANS to plahy!! BUH BYE! BUH BYE NOW!! Good riddance, Miss Bitch! >:-)

  • @oofahman Yes, I do know what I can do with my pipes; I can play them for many, many years to come as long as they are properly and regularly cared for at minimal expense. However, your toaster will have failed after a maximum of 20 years. And when you try to insult somebody who is a professional and does make a career out of playing and maintaining actual pipe organs by saying they "haven't got the brains God gave a rat," you are really just making yourself look like a fool. But nice try, bud.

  • @edolch AND YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T GOT THE BRAINS GOD GAVE A RAT. You know what you can do with your pipes, pal.

  • @oofahman And no matter how good you want to claim they sound, they will never trick a trained ear. There is no reason at all to support them with such ignorant enthusiasm as you have. That is unless you are just trying to make sense of why your church would make such a stupid decision and buy one. Toasters don't last, they don't sound great, they aren't work the money, and again, the reason I'm angry is that people like you would prefer such a piece of crap instead of a real instrument.

  • @oofahman Well you obviously aren't a professional musician with and I'm sure you have no idea what you're listening for. You also obviously aren't a professional because you have no idea the costs of keeping a pipe organ in good condition or keeping a toaster in good condition. You don't have to rebuild things in a real organ every 30 to 40 years...as long as you just maintain it. Toasters on the other hand simply burn up. They don't last and that's been proven time and time again. Pipe lasts.

  • @edolch Don't get your panties in bunch, Miss Edloch...you just can't believe what you hear from digitals organs nowadays and that's why your're pissed..and you SHOULD be!! At least with digitals you don't a complete rebuild of your catalytic converters every 30 to 40 years costing the church THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars that could be put to use feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, helping the poor, etc. And i most certainly DO know what I'm listening for, biatch. TO TOASTERS! >;-)

  • @oofahman And that would be because you don't know what to listen for. Rodgers, Allen, Johannus, all of the toaster companies should give it up. If a church only has $50,000 to spend, it's a small church. So spend $50,000 and build a decent pipe organ of around 10 ranks...as long as it's a good builder, those 10 ranks will do amazing things. And no, I'm pissed because he is choosing to play a toaster rather than the gorgeous instrument in Methuen...like I said.

  • @edolch grow up.,,its THE SOUND you want not whether it's pipe or not!!! My church has a new rodgers and we fooled members of the snotty AGO who thought it was a Casavant..they stormed out of the church like a bunch of spoiled self-righteous little brats...And you sir would never be able to tell the difference either. THAT'S why you;re pissed! If you've got half amillion bucks then buy us a pipe organ...I'll take A Rodgers ANYDAY for 55 Grand!!!!!! >:-(
