Your friend is not around, can you talk to him/her through a robotic copy of Casper the Friendly Ghost? The Telenoid R1, a new telepresence robot developed by Osaka University and ATR, has that purpose. The robot is 80 cm long (~31 inches), ghost-white, and has stubby limbs that make it look exactly like a cartoon ghost. Telenoid is an advanced video conferencing tool crafted to resemble a minimalist human being. A person in front of a webcam will have their voice and head movements recorded and sent over the internet to the robot through WiFi connection. Telenoid R1 will soon retail for ¥ 3 million (~$35,000 USD), the advanced version, with a cheaper model for ¥ 700k (~$8000 USD). This is the first step in making people accept robots in their daily lives. Would you learn how to love this creepy robot?

@Badhabitsjay just you to know! Japanese are the first who created ''sexy danceing robots'' so that a guy who is shy or can't dance well can do it with a robot, sounds insane though, however in a next 30 years we have to get used to it
