This is just a quick demo of how my new Jet belt/disc sander can rapidly replenish the surface of even wood with mold covering it, as this small scrap of alder had. This end was sticking out in the rain from my wood racks outside. I cut it off to straighten up the longer piece it was on and finished that one with the jointer, saw, and random orbital sander, eventually gluing and screwing it into part of the frame of the drawer box on my lathe stand.

With the new Jet JSG-96CS 6"x48" belt/9" disc sander having just arrived, I wanted to see the small, scrap end piece restored, too. I can now use this sander to very quickly create new, viable, straight pieces out of all manner of small cutoffs, which can be glued together to create things like end grain butcher blocks, coasters, composite lumber, and a whole host of other things that I can incorporate into finished products to use, give away, or even sell.
