This improvisation is based on two ideas married together, the first idea is an immitation of cathedral carillon bells, the second one is a variation of Michael Praetorius' (1571-1621) Fantasia "Christ, unser Her, zum Jordan kam", a piece which I place as one of the top materpieces of the pre-Bach era - speaking of Bach - this improvisation also grew out of my frustration with trying to get a presentable performance of Concerto IV in c-dur!!! - bloody hard piece for me to perform for YouTube .... :-( - well sometime soon (hopefully) ... ;-D I am also working on writing a piece based on this improvisation. An additional influence for this improvisation on me is the piece "Carillon" by Roland van der Berg whose music can be found on the website "Evensong Music". Once I heard this piece I immediately came up with the ideas behind this improvisation.

  • The beginning sounds much like the beginning of the finale from Vierne's 5th! Have you heard it?

    I like this!

  • Thanks!!! The influence for this improvisation on me is the piece "Carillon" by Roland van der Berg whose music can be found on the website "Evensong Music". Once I heard this piece I immediately came up with the ideas behind this improvisation. Only now that you mentioned the Vierne 5th Organ Symphony Finale did I realize that the beginning of this improvisation is very similar. When I improvised this piece in no way did I even think of Vierne, but for me Vierne is one of the organ gods.

  • I see. I think it's a very good theme.

Vierne is one of my favorites to, perhaps my favorite among with Franck, Alain and Duruflé. I like your style when it comes to improvisation. What you should think of if you want be become better is to; not repeat yourself to much. This is enough material but I think it was a bit to long. One don't want to lose the excitement. You have thought some about the form in this impro but as I said, atleast I would have done it shorter. I ment to be constructive

  • Hello, I must say that you play Organ very well as always. Congratulations. Keep playing.

  • sounds like some music from 8bit horror game 5/5
