Excellent review, thanks. I've been looking at capes for a while and have designed my own. I was going to use Carben Fiber, but this one is very thoughfully designed with quite a few features which do more than one job.

Great job with this video. You put the SMD Gatewood Cape on my shopping list. The GC is to my Golite poncho what the Grand Floridian is to the All-Star Music. Both get the job done but there's a big difference in level of comfort and amenities.

The short answer is yes. There is apparently a way to get it set up whilst wearing it but I've never got it to work...

You can only get it from six moon in the states- they're great to deal with though. For trekking poles, nothing comes close to the Gossamer gear Lightrek poles as far as I'm concerned. They don't pack as short as three section poles, but they're ridiculously light. You might also want to check out the titanium goat goat poles too.
