lol, this old chestnut.
Yeah, going into one election he said there will be no GST, and he got elected. Then going into the next election he changed his mind and said "Change of plan, I've decided if you re-elect me there will be a GST"... and he got re-elected. Failing to see the issue. He was elected again even though he said GST would be introduced. Someone voted for him. He was re-elected another 2 times after that even though the GST was there.

@Firefly0100 Although at the same time Gillard actually did take the proposal to the 2010 election and has simply been the victim of the greatest word-twisting by the Opp in Oz history. Google for yourself: "Gillard: my carbon price promise". Libs have played on the fact that most people don't distinguish mentally between a 'carbon tax' and an 'emissions trading scheme'.

@Firefly0100 And what are you actually fucking talking about? Everything gets taken to an election sooner or later. Do u not understand the extreme level of checks & balances inherent in our democracy? Not taking an extremely low impact carbon price to election before putting in place a year before an election hardly compares to sending Oz into major wars without taking those proposals to an election. They were far more opposed than the carbon price has been but Howard didn't care.

@Firefly0100 Howard taking the GST to an election was hardly a genuine comment. He said never ever and then changed his mind after he had a 45 seat majority that he knew he would only lose in the most unlikely of circumstances. He almost did and it's a real darned shame he did not. But he did not the likelihood of losing with such a big majority was unlikely.

@Firefly0100 Our current debt level is not 200 billion dollars and even if it currently was that would not be "destroying this country" because that is a level of debt that can be sustained by our economy if it is necessary to do so. And why did we go into debt? On the direct advice of economists the world over and the G20, really.
Never ever? John Coward's on of the most arrogant lairs world has seen

Wrong tense, was, he isn't anything now, he is a was from now on. A "was" the Prime Minister of Australia, maybe even "Was" member for Bennalong, come on Maxine McKew, come on the postals, but yes, was an arrogant arsehole lickspitle lair, you have that dead to rights.
