Episode 415: Stakeout, March 15, 1996
Tim Bayliss (Kyle Secor) and Frank Pembleton (Andre Braugher) keep an eye out for a killer while chatting about their job

Tim doesn't think the homicide unit is as closely knit as they should be unlike the other departments, Frank disagrees

"we are like a family" (in that we drink and hurt each other)

if any of you have watched and enjoyed The Wire, then Homicide is like a prologue to that show, set in the same city and even uses a lot of the same actors

  • That episode was so good. I loved how it played off the dynamics between the different characters. It was a great character piece. I loved how it showed that they cared for one another. Thanks for posting!!

  • I loved this episode. Homicide: Life on the Street did best with "smaller" episodes, ones where the characters sat around and interacted more.

  • @maw7649 it's probably the funniest in the series... When Frank says it, I always picture John Munch running out a bunt... you saw how coordinated he was in "All Through the House"... LOL

  • @bigleyfather1 I liked "cold" Tim in season 5... he was a lot more agressive and stronger as a detective when he wasn't in Frank's shadow

  • I love it when Frank says, "I don't wanna see Munch run out a bunt". Great Pembleton line. It starts at 3:00.

  • I kind of hated Pembleton's Character at this point.I hated how He seemed to treat Tim coldly and looked down upon His very legitimate reasons for wanting to leave the Department.I hated how He always carried around this self-righteous attitude about His work.I loved how the Writers twisted it around in Season Five where Tim becomes Cold and Frank tries to win His Respect

  • "We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves." -- Frank Pemberton

  • One of my favorite HLOTS scenes of all time!!!!!!!!!!

  • Such a fantastic scene. "We're like a REAL family." Andre Braugher is The Man.

  • Spoken wisely again Frank...
