These are actually the sound techs working on the keyboards and background audio (beats, etc), so yes, most of what you're hearing are actual live keyboards.
It's just that Martin and Peter (and originally Alan) can't be bothered to do sound checks themselves. :p
Oh, and Fletch it's just running the numbers, meanwhile. ;)

You have soundcheks and soundchecks. I guess they have a checklist of what to perform and when during the soundchecks day. So you can't say that a 37 seconds clip is their only soundcheck before a concert...

I love DM but what's a sound check for these guys, putting the CD in and moving the bass and treble around ??? COme on, really...

Definitely not. E.g. on the very first show I attended (Lielupe 03.09.98) they did World in My Eyes and In Your Room (Zephyr). And on the 2001 tour it was something else as well (can't remember). And as for the 101 film, remember there is that soundcheck where Martin sings Things You Said.
