I did mainly the same in my movie "the killer", first recording was a damaged organ, than i turned the recorded sound by effects to what it is now. Check it out!

the contrast between the visual and the acoustic is wonderful;

i used the sound of the wind which the condenser mic of the video camera picked up. I took sections and changed their properties to turn them into different sounds and i layered them until the mood and tension that i wanted was achieved.
in any case the sound composition for was done by myself.
