"I think for a lot of people, it's going to feel very hard...harder than anything they've experienced in their lifetime...for a long time to come." --Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner on economic recovery, "Meet the Press," July 10, 2011

a lot of people, older especially, who get laid off dont really have to work if they have their house paid off and have a lot of money saved from working and inheritance etc. what about that? some people just work for somthing to do. i'm not even rich and i get by. i just work when i feel like it.

@Tonster1998 automation is in part a result a constraint in labor or high wages but.... as long as "new stuff" is being made, people are still going to be needed to build it, besides that, i don't think a 3million dollar robot will ever be payed for to mop the floors.

@carl16760 automation. yes we can blame that on the japanese. They are building robots that will do everything. Soon the Jetsons lifestyle will be a reality.

wow 6 weeks of of the 4th extension omg. That's a joke. It's takes forever to find a new job unless you have a very very professional specialized career and i'm not talking about accountants, nurses, finance managers, etc....

well actually the unemployment rate is well over 20% if u factor in those who quit looking for work and those who are self employed who don't qualify for federal benefits.
People don't understand that just because somebody is employed doesn't mean they're making enough money to comfortably live on. The government's corrupt. Plain and simple!
