From 1980's Our Music Is Your Music. This record I once seen played live at a 2001 Emory University Jazz Festival held here in Macon GA where the Emory University Jazz Ensemble which blew me away. The arrangements, the sound, the match and all of that put together became real magic!

A history about Leslie Drayton, a great Los Angelian trumpet player who is still active in the music arena today was also the musicial director for Marvin Gaye among working with a number of other people. A great conductor, arranger, composer and influential musician by the way. This brother has some neat stuff.

  • i always really enjoyed the arrangements and dynamics of the Leslie Drayton Orchestra, live or on record...particularly fine was the phenomenal alto sax player, the late Curtis Peagler, whom i was fortunate enough to meet on a few occasions and also had the opportunity to hear him play live in small settings leading quartets and jam sessions around LA and South Pasadena during the late 1970s to 1980s era...he remains one of my favorite soloists of all time, and he is much missed...
