PS3 Blu-Ray drive reassembly

This is how to reassemble the PS3 Blu-Ray drive after it's been torn down. It's not too difficult, but requires patience. Verify it works before putting the PS3 back together to save time and frustration.

UPDATE: Be sure to check the lens assembly for tape or other packaging before reassembling the drive fully. I've received word that some suppliers put tape or packaging on there to protect the lens.

you wouldn't happen to know how to put together a ps3 slim blu ray drive together? properly.. because I use your videos and the plastic peices are completely different. For some reason the first time i put the drive into the ps3 and load a disc, it will unload it fine. I can do this fine as long as its turned on. As soon as i turn it on then off again, it stops working and then acts like its trying to accept a disc. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong

@10bm1025 I just got a slim PS3 and found that Sony completely redesigned the drive, so I'll have to figure out how things work. But at least it's possible for me to make videos about it now.

Hey i'm not sure if you could help me but for some reason when I put my drive back together I didn't do it properly. When i put a disc into the drive and then eject it, the mechanism that ejects the disc doesn't fully "close" so its left open a bit thinking its trying to accept a disc. Do you have any idea what my problem is? i have the ps3 working problerly with the top off and top off the blu ray drive. So i can see just fine what is going on

@10bm1025 Probably the top just needs to be lined up properly. Try holding the plastic top vertically before placing it onto the drive. I have a "PS3 optical drive top" video that goes into more detail on how to do it and what to look for.

At 3:19 that piece that your holding, one one those solid white parts came off and I'm having trouble putting it back on. You wouldn't happen to have a video explaining more on this piece would you?

Somebody plz help. When he said "if your disc stopd here. You got a problem" I noticed I had that problem!! What do I do???????

@junker15 lol i figured it out like maybe an hour after i commented, i was like ahhhhh damn that was easy and i struggled trying to remember :3 thank you though!!!!!
