I disagree with you on that point. Its the niches within Aviation Sims that are dead. Such as Modern Combat Aviation Sims. Those are dead as no real distinctly New modern combat simulator has been developed in over 6 years. The evidence for sims dying off as a whole I would point to Microsoft closing its Ace Studios, authors of MS Flight Simulator, as proof of the world aviation sim in general beginning to die off.

Yes haha Jason sux playing RoF, but the game is awesome.

Isn't dead by far, just not as mainstream as other games, still RoF is the most realistic ww1 flight sim out there.

Still it's nice to see a sim get some exposure and interest from outside the simulation community, even if it is for the wrong reasons.
With a flight sim actually being taken seriously by mainstream gamers, we may *finally* see more developers take on projects like this. :)
"Ragdoll effects for the airplane"
*facepalm*
The fact that someone would use a term associated with the FPS genre to make an analogy about the use of physics in a *flight simulator* pretty much sums up the current status quo for video games.
Simulation games are dead, and RoF is looked upon as something of a novelty by the gaming community - they only give it credence because of the next-gen graphics. (which is all anyone seems to care about these days)

I suppose so, but ragdoll is the term that popped into my head when I saw it, so it reflects my own mindset more than anything. I also play FPS, so using the term "ragdoll physics" conveys the same information using the fewest words.
Simulations aren't dead, just very very niche. I'd suspect we'd have to see something close to Crimson Skies, with a story and all, to see anything close to a flight sim with mainstream interest again. Who knows, in the right hands there might be a future...
