Townes Van Zandt performs "Buckskin Stallion Blues" and "The Catfish Song" live with a full band in 1987. At the end, there are also a couple verses of "Ain't Leavin' Your Love."

  • Townes is so cool... Just a real guy, that happens to be a genius. The backup band is hoaky, he is best listened to by himself. (In my opinion) If you like him, check out...

    Blaze Foley

    Steve Earle

    Wrecks Bell

    J.T. VanZandt

All friends, all part of the time....

  • @hibobb123456 I agree. Thats why Live and the Old Quarter is by far his best album (of many great ones). Its only Townes, his guitar and a small respectful audience.

  • I just ordered Live at the old Quarter via Amazon and I'm now countin down the days till i get that 2 Cd set !! Townes I wish I had the chance to be in your presence....

  • I think the piano on Catfish Song is a lovely touch

  • I fell in love with TVZ the first time I heard his voice in 1975 and I still am moved by his songs today.

  • @hibobb123456

don't need your arrogant opinion...the band is fine

  • always sings with his eyes closed, concentrating on every word.

  • hank williams song , as Townes would say "good lucks".

  • maybe van gogh could have used more purple/red/green/blue. Maybe you could realize that art created is very, very far from you and only available for appreciation. You can make a cover band if you're so inclined and then replace as you like. Leave yourself out of this art...please.

  • i think the flute fits the song nicely. i don't really see the need for three guitars though
