This is a very sad song to listen to considering what happened to Jerry Hadley (June 16, 1952 July 18, 2007). He was a student of my teacher from 1978, after getting his masters degree in music from the University of Illinois in 1977. He then started teaching at the University of Connecticut. A 1993 article by Noël Goodwin in Opera magazine stated, "After 15 years Hadley still goes back to this Sicilian American who, he says, gave him confidence and secure knowledge of what he is doing with his voice at any given time, through teaching methods that are direct and physiological." Hadley also stated, "(I was) lucky above all else to have found a teacher in New York without whom I really doubt I could have really built the career I have." Here he displays wonderful balanced vocal registration and release of constriction which are the cornerstones of the technique that he learned and that I teach.

  • This voice is unusual .I have heard everyone for decades. all the greats. this is Chicago.

    But thereis something special here.Mclaire12

  • @mclaire12 YEP! Agreed. Talent and the technique he was taught that allowed that talent to shine.

  • i cant believe that someone couldnt have been with him every minute to bring him through.

where was his wife? why did this wonderful man go thru a "painful' divorce? I was divorced in my 20's and it could have been much more "Painful" but it wasnt. You dont do that no matter what happens. My heart feels boken when i hear that voice.Mclaire12

  • @mclaire12 I don't know the answers to those questions. Perhaps he isolated himself. I am sure he was very depressed. It is tragic to listen to I know. Also the other song that I uploaded called "Anthem" from Chess.

  • @mclaire12 It is the development of his falsetto register which allows him to sing great pianissimi.

  • @MrCafiero You are the coach is it the long line the long breath?is that what gives that marvelous pianissimo?
