Line 6 POD HD400 into DT50 head and custom 2x12 (with stock DT50 speakers in it, V30 and G12H90).

Recorded on a Zoom H2, and mic'ing the V30 close to the grill cloth, off axis. The recording is very similar to the real life amp, except the real life amp has slightly more treble definition from the G12H90, which I couldn't record at the same time, and also a little more bass chugg with this Recto model. Also I wasn't running the DT50 very loud, so at higher volumes it sounds even better, like all tube amps. All that's based on me listening to this recording through KRK studio monitors and comparing to the real amp... But no recording can ever truely represent a tube amp in real life.

The POD HD400 tone file for this is available on my website: http://www.rowbinet.co.uk/pod-tones/

  • Ive got a HD500 and was thinking about picking up a DT50 2x12 combo to play live with (hooked up with line 6 LINK). In your opinion does the DT50 lose any tube amp quality when you use the POD HD in front of it? modeled pre-amp vs tube pre-amp can make or break the tone.
