After seeing some interesting debates sparked over health care reform, I came to realize I have a few more gay Republican friends than I had previously realized. Some of which, were actually socially conservative, fundamentalist Christians. After I was done trying to wrap my mind around that, I figured it was worth a closer look. Tell me what you think, or don't. It doesn't matter. I am still thin.

  • Gay republicans are just like jewish nazi's, working towards the destruction of others of their own kind. I absolutely LOATHE them!!

  • Wait, black and poor usually go one and the same? Did you really say that

    adding...

OMG beside blacks you have stereotyped gays, gay Republicans, Republicans, pastors, Catholics .... you are one of the most closed minded bigoted people I have heard and yet you still act as if you are superior to all the rest. Sad really.

  • I think you have some issues with Gay Republicans, obviously, you need to get out more, there are plenty of churches who accept gay people in their congregation, you have been hypnotized by the stereotype gay bashing christian types. we are making great strides in our party for change. you didn't really say why you don't like Gay republicans what have they done to you? BTW we are not racist either.

  • @unterland. Being a social conservative, gay republican has little to do with loving ones home town or interpreting the constitution "strictly." There is nothing in the constitution about being against gay marriage, interracial marriage, or religious structure that is to be implemented into the United States. All of those are, or have been socially conservative calling points. I hate to pull this card, but anyone that claims to understand the constitution could not be a strict conservative.

  • Speaking as a gay Republican who is fairly socially conservative, I can only boil it down to the fact that I love and am sexually attracted to men, but I respect the Constitution and interpret it strictly. Also, I live in a small town in Southern Indiana, and unlike a large number of people now, gay and straight, I don't hate my hometown; I never call it a shithole, or bitch to excess about it.

  • EVERYTHING is getting a little rounder.

  • Hey, Justice, is your face getting a little rounder?

  • I understand that, but with a minority group it is slightly different. You wouldn't have a black man as a member of the KKK, as even racism is all politics and ideology. Being a gay man that donates time and money to causes and people who are stone set on keeping you repressed, unequal and demonized is contradictory and there has to be a mental disconnect there.

I am curious to know why anyone would feel compelled to support those that despise you. Odd place to be. Thanks for the comment :)

  • Unless I'm way off base here, being gay is purely a sexual orientation. As such it should have no bearing whatsoever on a person's politics, beliefs, or anything else that doesn't pertain to where you go stickin' it.

People often appear to be contradictions in themselves, and similarly something as seemingly benign as health care reform can poison a nation like ours because of one very simple principle; shit's complicated. Nothing's impossible to figure out, just complicated.
