Good video... glad to see the Volt is still on track.. I know someone who works at the Milford Proving grounds .. they say it's on schedule and doing better than expected. Heard they are getting easily more than 40 miles on a charge. Cycle testing of the batteries is the longest test...only time will tell how they do... so far so good. In a little more than a year and a half we will see... hope I can get one.

My question is if it has an gas fed generator, then why wouldn't you just fill up the tank and let it run off of that so you don't have a charge on your electric bill. That way you never plug it in at home.

@lowe442 Because ICEs are only 25% energy efficient and it's MUCH cheaper per kWh to buy from a utility.

BAD IDEA! Lets see if everyone plugs into the grid at say 5 or 6pm. hmmm...rolling blackouts here we come. This is so not going to happen. Plus using the grid creates pollution in the process. Now if we used solar and wind generated on you're own property to charge it, it would be awesome. But 99% of ppl don't like the eye sores or the cost of that.

You are TOTALLY wrong! The DOE itself says 180 MILLION EVs can plug into the grid AS IS without adding any new capacity. The grid is basically at 1/3rd capacity late at night.
OBVIOULSY if it's cheaper to charge at off peak times its simple enough for everyone to have timers! Besides that you're missing the point, EVs are 1/10th to 1/20th the cost per mile compared to petrol.
