At the Latin America 2006 Conference, jointly organised by the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, one of the most interesting contributors was Professor Wayne Smith. As former Head of US Interests Section in Havana, Wayne Smith gave a thought-provoking speech about US policy on Cuba. It is both refreshing and inspiring to hear a former US diplomat being so outspoken and honest about US policy on Cuba. Here an extract of his speech held at the conference.

If only more of his US compatriots were as well-informed and sensible about Cuban-American relations as Wayne Smith.
Fortunately, he appears to be in excellent health and will hopefully be around for many more years to spread the word about the vindictive and anachronistic US trade embargo against Cuba.
If there's any more footage from Wayne Smith's address to the conference, please post it.
Meanwhile, thanks for posting this extract.
